Architecture of Infinity
Is it possible for a building to make us feel transcendent because it occupies a specified, rigid area? To what extent can they be used as a place of contemplation? For how can walls provide unrestricted mobility? Christoph Schaub, inspired by vivid memories from his own childhood, embarks on a journey of discovery that takes him to both ancient and futuristic churches, as well as the highest mountains and the deepest seas. Using the help of architects Peter Zumthor, Peter Märkli, and lvaro Siza Vieira, as well as artists James Turrell and Cristina Iglesias, he tries to make sense of the world and understand our spiritual experiences by using the seemingly abstract concepts of light, time, rhythm, sound, and shape to make sense of what we see. This introspective inquiry becomes a multi-sensory experience thanks to the film's stunning cinematography.
