It was Leonora Eames' childhood dream. She'd wed Smith Ohlrig millions. Once she realizes the truth concerning her husband However, her dream became a nightmare he is power mad and insane! Since he will not give her a divorce, she leaves her life of luxury and goes to work as a receptionist in the office at NYC's lower west side of an impoverished doctor. Leonora becomes pregnant, after she is deceived by Smith into a reconciliation. By now she recognizes she's hoping, she and one of those doctors, Larry Quinada (James Mason), have fallen in love. However, she's again lured backed for her husband to give her child security. Her husband is hell bent on keeping her and her child captive. What will happen to Leonora?
