Nathan Walker is a young man who lives in Chicago Heights, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. Every day, he finds himself intertwined in the lives of his neighbors. They are polite, friendly, and down-to-earth people. Individuals in any community, however, have their own private passions that their neighbors are unaware of. Each has a dark secret, a broken dream, a fervent hope, and a terrifying fear. We accompany Nathan as he matures and watch as the layers peel away from this seemingly random assortment of ordinary people who, beneath their practiced, Christian exteriors, are extraordinarily human.
