In the past, up to fifty percent of the world's manganese, a crucial metal, was extracted in Chiatura, Georgia. It resembles a post-apocalyptic ghost town at now. Mzis qalaqi depicts a handful of the remaining inhabitants. To supplement his income as a music instructor, Zurab dismantles dilapidated concrete structures and sells the iron girders.
