Introduce the Libner brothers: Marvin (Daniel Stern), the eldest, is a U.S. Air Force sergeant. The middle child, Buddy (Arye Gross), is a timid dreamer. Bobby (Patrick Dempsey), the youngest, is a dashing reform school rebel. As children, they fought frequently, but as adults, they hardly talk. In the summer of1963, their stern and eccentric father, Fred (Alan Arkin), assigns them the mission of transporting a 1954 Cadillac purchased for their mother Betty (Rita Taggart) from Detroit to Miami. As the journey progresses, the three brothers argue and seek to bond while attempting to preserve the Caddy in impeccable condition.
