Herb's life is in shambles. He's lost his benefits, can't find work, can't communicate with his son, has a noisy neighbor, and eats mostly cheap beer and mushy peas. He knows it's not the way to live. Then he sees on TV that Danish inmates have it a lot better than he does: a job, access to healthcare, the peace and quiet of the countryside, and even an HDTV. They seem to be living in motels. He bids his shabby flat farewell and smuggles himself to Denmark on a container ship, arriving in a charming town with everything he requires— including a bank to heist. But when he meets a sweet local barmaid and a devoted stray dog that won't leave his side, he begins to doubt if prison is really his only option for a happy life.
