"Dog Jack" tells the story of a slave boy and his dog who escape from their master's plantation, join the union army, and face their former master on the battlefield. The plot is based on the historical true-life adventures of the Pennsylvania 102nd's beloved mascot, who was so highly regarded by his regiment for his battle skills that he was twice exchanged for a Confederate prisoner of war.
