Drunks
Jim appears particularly distressed at the start of a weekly Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. His sponsor encourages him to speak that night, for the first time in seven months, so he does - and then leaves the meeting. As Jim wanders the night, looking for solace in his old haunts, bars and parks where he bought drugs, the meeting continues, and we hear the stories of survivors and addicts-some, like Louis, who claim to have wandered in looking for choir practice and don't call themselves alcoholics, and others, like Joseph, whose drinking almost killed his child-as they talk about their lives at the meeting.
