Fourteen years after Third Effect, Shinji Ikari awakens. He's not dated. Much of Earth is set in ruins, NERV has been dismantled, and have turned him against him. Shinji continues the combat the angels and comprehends that the fighting is far from over, even when it might be against his former allies. The characters' struggles continue hammering the battles against eachother and the angels, spiraling down from exactly what may unavoidably be the end of the world.
