Ned (Liev Schreiber) is currently in the throes of a mid-life catastrophe. His job as a writer on an TV series that is outrageous, semi-pornographic is satisfying. His fifteen year-old son has just told him he could be gay and his eleven year old is fearful of pretty much everything. After his wifeJeannie (Helen Hunt), moves her sick and embittered father (Brian Dennehy) from Detroit into their home in NY, it puts additional strain on an already strained union.
