After the Kwimper family car runs out of petrol onto a Florida highway that is fresh and an officous state supervisor tries to conduct off them, Pop Kwimper determines to execute a homesteading and digs in his heels. He and his son Toby and their"adopted" children - Holly, Ariadne and the twins - launch their very own little community together a strip of the road side.
