Darcy, the editor of her high school paper, and Stan, her long-term lover, are in their final months of high school and have already secured admission to prestigious institutions. It wasn't until recently that they began to sleep with one another and that Darcy became pregnant. Neither Darcy's mother, who was abandoned by her husband and forced to raise Darcy on her own, nor Stan's catholic parents are particularly sympathetic, and both want them to marry.
