When Thane Furrows, a very cynical but unintentionally funny children's book author, wakes up one morning, he starts complaining to himself about everything and everyone. This is because Thane gets weird phone calls, letters, and voices in his head, all of which say that something will happen at 8 o'clock today. It gets worse and worse as the day goes on. Thane rants and raves about things that bother him as the clock ticks closer and closer to his fate.
