Hurt By Paradise
In her debut as a feature film director, poet, actor, and publisher Greta Bellamacina's new British drama has been described as "Woody Allen meets Frances Ha." Greta also plays the role of Celeste, a young mother living in present-day London who is working to establish a career for herself as a poet. While this is going on, Stella, Celeste's friend and neighbor (who is also a co-writer), has ambitions of becoming an actress but spends the majority of her time watching Celeste's boy. Part tribute to the city, this is a beautifully observed narrative of friendship and family with a humorous sense of understatement that is rather pleasant.
