After being physically abused by his beloved wife Carmen, Pat begins to wonder what is going on with her. Carmen and Pat are shocked to learn that Carmen has early onset Alzheimer's. As Carmen's memory deteriorates and she loses her ability to recognize her devoted husband, Pat seeks solace in the only area the sickness can't reach— his recollections of their life together.
