A former minor league pitcher named Gus Cantrell steps up to the plate to take over as manager of the Minnesota Twins' woeful farm team at the insistence of new owner Roger Dorn, a silver-tongued businessman. However, he is unaware that Dorn has an additional agenda in staging a grudge match between the major leaguers and their motley Triple A affiliate in order to generate attention.
