Ben Archer is dissatisfied with his lot in life. Sandy, his mother, has recently met a man with whom she appears to be having an affair. Ben will do anything to disrupt the "love bubble" that surrounds his mother, driven by a dread of abandonment. Ben and Jack, on the other hand, become much closer as a result of their experiences in the Indian Guides.
