Cain, who was convicted of many murders and sentenced to 18 years in jail, has stated that upon his release he intends to start a new life as a rancher and will never pick up a weapon again. However, the ghosts of his past continue to stalk him; not only does no one want to hire him, but a few unscrupulous people also want to exact revenge on him. Therefore, he has little choice but to take up the showman Ruffalo's invitation to play the role of "Killer Cain" in the traveling shooting show he puts on. However, after 18 years of not practicing his shooting, even Ruffalo's youthful helper Billy shoots better than Cain does.
