Ryo Aihara is reserved, timid, and uncertain of herself; as a result, she doesn't quite fit in anywhere. She has problems talking to people and having normal conversations like everyone else does, despite the fact that she really wants to make friends. It seems like whenever she speaks, the words that she says are not spoken in the correct manner. Ryo has, over time, become accustomed to the fact that his existence as an introverted student takes place primarily in silence. Ryo does not have a need for a cell phone because she does not have someone to chat to. She makes a cell phone in her mind so that she can have imagined phone conversations, and much to her surprise, one day Shinya answers the call on the other side. She does this because she longs for friends to chat to. Ryo has, for the first first time in her life, discovered a person with whom she can have meaningful conversations.
