At Peyton Place's outwardly respectable New England community, shopkeeper Constance McKenzie attempts to compensate for a past indiscretion -- that led in her illegitimate daughter Allison -- by adopting a chaste, prudish attitude towards all things sexual. Constance cannot help but be attracted to fine new educator Michael Rossi.
