When lovelorn Michael shows up in Berlin to return a set of keys to his ex-girlfriend, Gabi, as an excuse to see her once again, he locates her house empty save for a number of plumbings making repairs to the central home heating. Just as Michael gains from the plumbing technician's pupil, Harper, that Gabi has popped out for some time but will certainly return quickly, the pupil is attacked by his employer that has suddenly as well as inexplicably transformed right into a raging madman.
