Hsiao Kang, a disgruntled adolescent, abandons the local cram school for the bright lights of downtown Taipei, defying his parents. He becomes involved with Ah Tze, a young hoodlum, and their relationship is a muddled mix of hero worship and rivalry that quickly leads to trouble.
