Four dozen competitors are invited to Alaska every February on a voyage that tests their bodies, minds and wills to succeed and live. Iditarod Trail Invitational is a 1000 mile cycle, foot or ski race through the Alaskan wilderness. More people climb Everest in one afternoon than cycle from Anchorage to Nome. But this year, 26 racers will try the 1000-mile Iditarod Trail. 12 days is the quickest. The longest exceeds 30. In quest of adventure and excitement, these elite competitors return year after year to one of the world's most perilous races. Toes, hands, or even a loved one? Not being prepared on the Iditarod Trail has its consequences.
