In the not-too-distant future, an all-seeing monitoring state carries out "dream audits" to gather tax obligations on the unconscious lives of the populace. Mild-mannered government agent James Preble takes a trip to a remote farmhouse to examine the desire for Arabella "Bella" Isadora, an eccentric, aging musician. Going into Bella's large VHS archive, which includes a life time of dreams, Preble stumbles upon a trick that supplies him a chance at love-- and hope for retreat.
