Sunshine
As a Hungarian-Jewish family grows from poor beginnings to positions of power and fortune, their tale is told over three generations. When his government authorizes anti-Jewish persecutions, the patriarch, who rises to prominence as a judge, is torn. During the Holocaust, his son, a champion fencer, turns from Judaism to Christianity so that he can become an Olympic hero. This realization finally dawns on the grandson after he has been through wars, revolutions and betrayals.
