When the Wolves baseball team learns that they have been inherited by one K.C. Higgins, who is rumored to be a "fathead," and that he plans to take an active role in running the team, they are understandably upset. K.C., on the other hand, turns out to be a stunning woman who is quite knowledgeable about baseball. Almost immediately, second baseman Dennis Ryan finds himself in a romantic relationship. But his playboy roommate Eddie O'Brien has his own beliefs about how to treat the new woman owner, and some unscrupulous gamblers have their own notions about how to manage Eddie.
