The Andromeda Strain
An emergency is declared by the mind of the US Air Force's Project Scoop when practically all of the residents of Piedmont, New Mexico, are dead after the return to Earth of some place satellite. Friends of eminent scientists directed by Dr. Jeremy Stone scramble into some stable lab and attempt to first isolate the entire life form when determining the two folks out of Piedmont - an old alcoholic and also a six-month-old baby - lived.
