Andrew Crocker-Harris has been forced from his position as the standards master at an English public institution due to poor health and wellness. As he end up his last term, he uncovers not only that his better half, Millie, has been unfaithful to him with among his fellow schoolmasters, but that the college's pupils and professors have long disdained him. However, an unforeseen act of kindness causes Crocker-Harris to re-evaluate his life's work.
