The Cure
They become inseparable, Dexter, age 11, who has AIDS, and Eric, a bit older and considerably bigger than him, who lives next door. When she finds out that Eric and Dexter are friends, Eric's mother, who is inattentive and intolerant, forcefully prohibits their association. Eric also becomes closer to Dexter's mother than to his own mother. After reading about "The Cure" in the neighborhood newspaper, Dexter and Erik get an early start on their adventure to find it.
