The Devil's Trap
A priest on a secret mission arrives in a tiny town one day. He is an Inquisitor dispatched to probe the conduct of a local miller. The miller and his son are descended from an old family whose ancestral home burned down a century ago and had to be rebuilt from the ground up. From years of family experience, the miller inherited much of his expertise about the soil, water, and the stability of a building. His reputation for locating water and forecasting when a structure will collapse has drawn the attention of the Inquisition-certainly he must be in collaboration with the Devil.
