The Gilded Lily
Marilyn "Lynn" David, a secretary, develops romantic feelings for British aristocracy Charles Gray Granville, much to the dismay of her best friend, the reporter Pete Dawes, who also harbors secret feelings for Lynn. When Pete finds out that Gray has wounded Lynn, he makes up a story in which Lynn is portrayed as a "No Girl" who refused to marry a cold-hearted nobleman. Lynn gains unexpected recognition as a result of the media attention, and Gray comes back, forcing her to make a choice between the two men she cares about.
