The Journey of August King
August King's Journey is a multi-layered drama set in 1815 North Carolina. August King, a widower, is returning home as he does each year after selling his harvest and acquiring the stock and commodities necessary to survive the winter. August King comes across a runaway slave, a young woman about the age of 19, on his voyage and must decide whether to break the law and assist this slave to freedom or to abandon her to be hunted down and eventually returned to her slave master.
