Twenty-something Freddy is stranded in a sleepy French village where the only signs of life are the amateur brass band and young people riding their scooters aimlessly through the countryside. He has a strong sexual attraction to his girlfriend but lacks the joy and passion to give her. A tragic event occurs when she falls in love with a handsome Arab youth.
