When 14-year-old Marco, a homeless Romani young boy, is detained at the Danish border for property of a missing out on public servant's key, cops assessor Carl Mørck and his Department Q group are entrusted with discovering the link. The old case consists of several suspicious components: The public servant was accused of pedophilia shortly before he went away, and also his instance was shut unusually quickly. But the quiet, distressed Marco rejects to speak with them and it's not long before he gets on the run from those who plan to eliminate him due to what he recognizes.
