The Moderns
Nick Hart is a struggling American artist who makes his home in Paris during the 1920s amid the other expatriate community members. He spends the majority of his time drinking and mingling with people at the area's cafés, and he is always harassing the owner of the gallery, Libby Valentin, to sell his paintings. He finds himself embroiled in the scheme hatched by the wealthy art patroness Nathalie de Ville to fake three artworks. This results in repeated confrontations between Hart and the American rubber billionaire Bertram Stone, who just so happens to be married to Rachel, Hart's ex-wife.
