Suzanne Simonin refers to her life suffering in letters. As a woman she's delivered to a convent against her will. They pick she has to instead become a nun since her parents can't pay the dowry. Even though a kind and understanding Mom Superior helps to learn the convent pattern, Suzanne's desire for freedom remains unabated. After the Mother Superior expires, Suzanne finds himself faced with humiliation reprisals and harassment at the hands of the new Abbess and the Sisters.
