The Shootout
Hong Kong cinema stars from the past and present appear in The Shootout, an early nineties action comedy. Aaron Kwok plays Fai, a rookie cop who mistakenly arrests a thief. However, Fai loses his collar when the gang's violent chief (Elvis Tsui) infiltrates Police HQ to kill his own colleague! Luckily, two "professional" policeman, Lau (Sean Lau Ching Wan) and Ma (Leung Ka Yan), help catch the criminal people. Min (Fennie Yuen), Fai's club singer crush and the girlfriend of the head bad guy, aids their investigation. With skill and chance, the police gather for a brutal finish. The Shootout features gritty violence and over-the-top action, but its charismatic performers and quick-witted comedy make it funny.
