The Spirit of the Beehive
In the wake of the Spanish Civil War, Ana, a sensitive seven-year-old girl in a rural Spanish hamlet is traumatized after a travel projectionist displays a print of James Whale's 1931"Frankenstein" for the village. The child is profoundly disturbed by the scenes in which the villagers murders the tiny girl and later kill the creature himself. She believes her older sister when she informs her that the creature isn't dead, but is as a soul occupying a barn and questions her sister. Ana crosses from reality when a fugitive from Franco army, a Loyalist soldier, hides out at the barn.
