While living from the coast of England in exile adèle Hugo, daughter of French writer Victor Hugo, falls deeply in love with soldier Albert Pinson. Though he spurns her affections, he follows him and takes on the alias of Adèle Lewly. Albert proceeds to deny her, however, she remains obsessive in her quest to win him .
