Alice, a young hearing-impaired lady who, after an intended visitation from the Virgin Mary, is inexplicably able to hear, talk and heal the sick. As word spreads as well as individuals from near and far flock to witness her wonders, a disgraced journalist wishing to restore his job goes to the little New England town to explore. When frightening occasions begin to happen around, he starts to question if these sensations are the works of the Virgin Mary or something much more threatening.
