For the first time, Pete Young carries a risk - possibly the only real risk of his life - when he applies for and lands his dream job. The dilemma is that his single mum, Lynne has. Until today, he has been the golden boy while his rebellious older sister, Betsy, has always been at the doghouse. Pete attends a Catholic senior high school where he hangs out with his best friend. On the project, Pete becomes part of a new family that features Conrad Dean, star third baseman and the group captain and a few of their boy's all-time idols, that takes on the use of an elderly brother. Additionally are the manager, Lou Russo, a gruff but reasonable equipment manager who becomes a much-needed father figure of Pete. Carlos Tavares, a rookie that considers Pete is his good luck charm, and Jose Marquez, '' the Empires' territorial head bat boy. Pete is on the moon at being a portion of his favourite team but he must still balance life because he faces the ethical issues and curve balls that are thrown his way.
