Thirty years ago a strange occurrence known as a"spacequake" devastated the middle of Eurasia, claiming the lives of 150 million people. Ever since that time, the world plagues . Shido Itsuka, a seemingly average high schooler comes along with a mysterious girl at the ground zero of a spacequake and finds she's one of those"Spirits" who are the real cause of their spacequakes which occur whenever they manifest themselves in the world. He is recruited to make use of his ability to seal the Spirits' powers from being a threat to mankind, thus stopping them. But, there is a catch: to seal a Spirit's ability, he has to make her love him and kiss him.
