Food and Drink
Food and Drink is a long-running British television Set on BBC Two. First broadcast between 1982 and 2002, it was the first television programme at the UK to pay the topic of food and beverage without cookery and recipe presentations.
Created in 1982 by BBC producer Henry Murray in an original idea by Jancis Robinson, Fay Maschler and Paul Levy, the initial series premiered by Simon Bates along with Gillian Miles, also introduced Jilly Goolden within her first regular television appearances as the programme's wine expert. Russell Harty presented location reports from restaurants across Britain. This series featured the innovative concept of a small contributing audience of 20 people who were called"tasters and Trainers". The first series broadcast in the summer months but was instantly successful, attracting an average audience of 1.5 million a week, a high rating for BBC 2 at the summertime at the 80s.
Chris Kelly and chef Michael Barry presented series with wine specialists Jilly Goolden and Oz Clarke.
A spinoff panel game, drink and food Summer Quiz, aired in 1987 during the summer break of the show.
The theme music was by Simon might.
Food and Drink February 2013, returned into BBC 2 on 4 co-hosted by Michel Roux Jr and Kate Goodman.
