Hachiman Hikigaya is an antisocial high school student who has neither friends nor a lover, and consequently has a warped perspective on life. When he observes his peers enthusiastically discussing their teenage years, he murmurs, "They're a bunch of liars." When questioned about his future aspirations, he answers, "Not working." Hachiman is persuaded by a teacher to join the volunteer "service club," which contains the school's most beautiful girl, Yukino Yukinoshita.
