Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica
MTV and MuchMusic co-produced and aired Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica, a reality television show. It was inspired by Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson's marriage at the time. The series premiered in August 2003 and lasted three seasons, with a total of 41 episodes. The last season began on January26,2005, and concluded on March30,2005, with the final episode. Simpson and Lachey married on October 26, 2002, and on December 16, 2005, they filed for divorce. Jessica and Nick officially divorced on June30, 2006. The show's premise was to portray Simpson's naive personality, which played off the stereotype of "stupid blondes." The most famous example came from the first episode, when Simpson was confronted with a can of Chicken of the Sea tuna and asked Nick if he wanted to eat it "Is this fish or chicken? It says 'Chicken... by the Sea', which I know is tuna."
