The Philanthropist is an action drama show which premiered on NBC on Wednesday, June 2 4, 2009. The program was a summer seriesfilmed in South Africa. It started to strong ratings, but saw a drop in audiences in weeks. The Philanthropist is a Carnival Films production in association with The Levinson/Fontana Company and Original Media. Barry Levinson, tom Fontana, Peter Horton, Charlie Corwin, Gareth Neame, and Teri Weinberg functioned as executive producers.
On October 21, 2009, NBC canceled the show. Fans tries to preserve the show on the air using face-book and a charitable cause referred to as"Save Your Philanthropist during Charity" were not ineffective.
