Winter Begonia
A story that focuses on a Peking opera performer as well as a well-off entrepreneur who are brought together by their love for Peking opera.
Set in the 1930's, it follows Shang Xirui, a Peking opera performer who counts on his outstanding talent to gain fame in Beiping. Being an outsider, he faces resistance from the residents but doesn't relent neither quit in fulfilling his desires to advertise Peking opera. As he pours himself into mastering the art, affluent entrepreneur Cheng Fengtai ends up being deeply astounded after watching a performance for the first time. He makes acquaintance with Shang Xirui and also becomes a devoted supporter. Through Cheng Fengtai's aid, Shang Xirui develops Shui Yun Lou and trains a new performers. When the Japanese army attack Beiping in 1937 and also patriotic men and women take up arms to fight, Shang Xirui and Zhu Fengtai are transferred to make sacrifices for their nation
