Athletic 12-year-old Maddy (Kristen Stewart) shares an enthusiasm for mountain climbing with her dad, Tom (Sam Robards). Regrettably, Tom endures a spinal accident while climbing Mount Everest, along with his family isn't able to afford the surgery that may save him. By robbing a bank that is high-security, maddy decides to find the money because of the operation of her father.
