The film follows four boyhood friends: Joon-seok, the leader, whose father is a powerful crime boss; Dong-su, whose father is an undertaker; Jung-ho, the class joker; and Sang-taek, an exceptional student. The story is a semi-autobiography set in the director's hometown of Busan about his pals. It was the highest-grossing Korean film of all time at the time of its release.
