The film focuses on, Norman, a world-weary manager of a pier theatre in a seaside hotel. Norman has operated in the theatre for all of his life, yet will decline that the neighborhood council, which have the theater are intending to install even more commercial monitoring in an attempt to enhance audience numbers. As the tale unravels he realises it might be time to move on as well as place behind him the ghost of 50s & 60s singer Alma Cogan, who did at the theatre several years back.
